This is a 2 month long jam created for the sole purpose of putting out some more super rad chatsims!

What is a chatsim?

It’s in the name! It’s a chat simulator. It’s a story with a focus on being told through a chat system of some sort, be it an in game chat, a messaging platform, or even forum posts!

Rules

1. No AI generated content or stolen content allowed. This includes using AI assisted writing, editing AI generated images, etc. No exceptions.
2. You can start working early! This is just for fun and to get some more chatsims out there.
3. Unfinished works/Demos are allowed!
4. Your entry must include a chat sim aspect! You can make it the primary focus like games like Blooming Panic, or you can make a game that just has some chatsim features to it!
5. You may submit your game to other game jams, if their rules allow it and if your game is in theme with all the jams you’re submitting the game to.
6. You may submit more than one entry to this game jam.
   1. NSFW projects are allowed, as long as they are indicated as such.
7. If your game involves triggering content, you must tag it appropriately.
8. Entries promoting bigotry or discriminations of any sort (LGBTQ+-phobia, racism, sexism etc.) are prohibited and will be removed.
9. Your project can be free or commercial, at your own convenience, unless it is a fan game: all commercial fan games will be removed.

FAQ

• Does my game have to be an otome? No not at all! You can go for any genre of your choosing as long as you follow the chatsim theme requirements.
• What if I don’t know how to make a chatsim? Luckily for you, down below I’ve posted some resources, but I will also be available on twitter (@xenubin) to answer any questions if you get stuck and the forums or the renpy discord server are too daunting!
• Is this ranked? Nope! Just have fun and relax, make something you want and enjoy!
• Does my entry have to contain romance? also no! this is just for fun

Chatsims are intimidating to code if you don’t know how, but we’ve listed some resources below to make it easier

It has an active chat going in multiple channels at a time, as well as some well commented c ode to help you add in additional users, tweak the scaling of things, and more. 

Secondly, a more simple set up:

My lytelove code has been made open source since I am unsure of when I will be continuing the development. It has a simple chat system set up Via the NVL mode, so you can’t have multiple channels running at once, but it has additional features like a task bar for the quick menu icons.
