Since capitalism isn't over yet, here we go again! >:D
Almost the same as in 2023 but this time:
When the jam ends, all the participants will have a whole week to vote for the projects that are most powerful and effective for the anti-capitalist movement.
You guessed it. The theme is âFUCK CAPITALISMâ.
Submit a videogame, a digital narrative experience, an ezine, an interactive meme, a board game, a comic, a children's picture book, a manifesto, a poem, an anthem, posters or stickers, make playful hardware or whatever you want ***BUT*** include on it a high dose of sharp criticism, hurtful satire, documented atrocities, pure rage, awesome alternatives and/or day to day tricks to fight against rampant capitalism in creative ways.
Damn! We can't wait to see what comes out this edition!!!
We are sorry but projects (or people) not respecting the rules will be banned.
We've already started contacting streamers to enjoy your submissions from the 1st of June onwards, so a list of wild and reckless people will appear here in the next following weeks.
If youâre a streamer and want to take part please add a topic or send us a DM.
Be aware that we arenât going to manage which streamers experience which projects. They will be free to choose the ones they like the most or to change their mind and not play/read/listen anything.
We believe in the power of self-organized communities so we're not coordinating any in-person or online locations to allow interaction between teams.
However, feel free to do it yourselves, and if you want to put a link here for more people to join, please add a topic or send us a DM.
Do you (the organizers) belong to any anti-capitalist movement?
We're just regular people worried about the current status quo and want to use our creative force to make capitalism cry (a little bit).
Paid projects are not allowed but... what about "pay what you want" or community copies?
The idea behind this rule is that everybody can play the games without paywalls. The main goal of the jam is to spread the anti-capitalist discourse and payments go directly against this goal. It would be better if you make other people lives easier during the voting week by removing additional steps to download your project. That said, if you submit "pay what you want" games or give community copies, please be clear on the description:
1) Mention that the project is a submission for the "Fuck Capitalism Jam 2024" (you can remove it after the jam).
2) Explain that users can pay zero or ask for a free copy to avoid misunderstandings (not everybody knows of itch.io works).
A lot of people try to use the jam to simply sell their games and, as our time is limited, we will probably ban games that are not clear about their intentions.
Of course, feel free to do whatever you want with your game after the jam. However, if you make the itch.io project a paid game someday, it would be nice if you remove its submission from the jam. Don't take this as an obligation, but rather as a good practice aligned with the spirit of the jam.
More FAQs to come. You can add a topic or send us a DM for any question, comment or suggestion.
The organizers are not responsible for the content submitted to this jam or anything happening out of our control. Nevertheless, weâll try to do our best to resolve any issue that may occur.
Thanks to YOU for taking part and… FUCK CAPITALISM!!!
