Refunds

How are refunds handled on Itch.io? I'm still somewhat new and just started to risk it with some projects.

I want to know what I get myself into before I leave more money or find something bad.

Refunds are handled by support. I think you're supposed to request one within a week, and it might not be approved except for technical reasons, like the game not working as advertised. Both the buyer and seller can ask for a refund.

Hey is there a private chat here?  sometimes I saw the devs using it on steam, I have a question where it felt like it's not a good idea to open a discussion for that. Simple but I'm pretty careful with these things.

No, there are no direct messages on itch.io, by design. Sorry about that. If you need to contact a game's creator, see if they have an e-mail listed on the support page.

Okay I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to ask here what authentificator optiones there are now, because from what I understood there really is only one because Itch.io doesn't want the SMS one? You seem fast enough so I just ask now in chase it should be deleted.

If you are really unhappy with a purchase, you might wanna try anyways, but this is not a try-before-buy feature, as some people use it for on steam.

Many projects here are pay what you want.

And what they do not tell you, you cannot increase the payment value after you bought something. It is a bug/design flaw. You will just by it a second time. Some pages have content that says, you get it if you pay 10 $ for example. So if you donated 5 $ before, you cannot just donate 5 $ again.

So best try the free stuff on a page, and then decide how much you want to pay or overpay or tip.

Of course some projects are plain old paid projects and have no demo version. So maybe look twice, before going through the hassle of a refund.
